Ok fellas I got a Gen 1 DPMS LR-SASS
I got this second hand from a fella who claimed to have "built" the rifle. Upon inspection I found the only 2 non oem parts were the muzzle brake and the rail.
Being the guy was a DBag I assumed his definition of "built" was installing those two items.

Now the issue is that the rail is a keymod of some brand. The brand is unknown do to a crappy duracoating. I digress, the rail sits about 1/32" higher that the top of the rail on top of the upper. which is the Gen 1 thicker railed upper. The Keymod rail also has an upward cant to it and is almost 1/4" out of plane with the upper.

So I am going to go with the keymod or barrel nut it's clamped to is out of spec or whatever and I am just gonna get a new rail system for the rifle.

My question is what rail systems are know to or are marketed to fit or be made specifically for the Gen 1 dpms lr-sass rifles?

I'm super tired and have a 1 year old climbing all over me while I'm writing this so please excuse anything retarded or redundant I may have said.

I have a Troy Alpha rail on my Gen 1 DPMS build that I'm extremely happy with. My first rail was a Troy TRX rail that totally sucked ass because of its mounting system. If you go with the Troy Alpha you'll be happy.

I could be wrong so please get your grain of salt., When I was building My SASS I started with the first Gen Upper ( Only to replace it later) I was told that the First Gen Receivers (pre 8/09) were the 1/32 taller Armalite Height . It sounds as if you have a second gen receiver with a first gen rail attached.
This is My Post 8/09 Receiver with a a Samson Evo attached

I verified that I do indeed have a 1st gen upper receiver. It is the one that has a beefier top rail.
The key rail that is on there cants upward. so against the receiver it is 1/16th shorter but at the end of the rail it is actually about 1/4" higher than the top plane of the receiver.
I believe I am going to ditch both the receiver and the rail and get the new Aero precision M5E1 monolithic upper receiver that has the rail built in.
Hopefully it actually bolts into my lower
