I came across a ban era ar180b and am considering buying it". It is in excellent condition, has a fixed stock, and it appears the muzzle brake was machined as part of the barrel.  What do I need to know about this rifle and what would a good price be?

Thanks!

I have both a ban and a post ban era ar180b and love them both.  Yes, the ban era piece has a integral muzzle break.  I had the muzzle break on mine removed and the barrel threaded.  They use ar15 magazines  The two I have work flawlessly.

The bores are not chrome-plated, but that's really more of a concern with full-auto and corrosive ammunition than anything else.  You need to be careful of the hinge when taking down for cleaning.  There is however a company making a metal reinforcing fixture for the hinge area. Haven't had problems with mine.

There are accessories available here and there for these rifles.  You might want to look at "stormwerkz.com" they have a variety of items for the ar180b.

As far as price goes, most of the prices I see on Gunbroker, GunAuction, etc., I think are ridiculous. I paid $500 for the ban era and $550 for the post ban.  Both included shipping.  But it was also 10 and 6 years ago respectively that I purchased them.

Anyway hope this helps a bit.  Good luck and good shooting.

I had my ban-era BRAKE turned down leaving a shoulder and it worked perfectly.

I had an original AR180 3 prong flash suppressor and ran that on it for a while, then the later model 180 3 prong and now it has an A2 flash suppressor on it.  I like that the best.

Honestly, between my original 180 (which also sports an A2 flash suppressor) and my 180B, I really like the B better.

It is lighter and comes up very naturally to the shoulder.
