I have the chance to pick up my first AR10ish rifle for pretty cheap so is it worth $600?  I'm not a big fan of Bushmaster (have lowers, just not thrilled about what they do with the working part of the gun) and I don't like the ORC set-up.  However, this would be scoped anyway and function more as a target and hunting gun instead of the defense purposes of a few AR15s I own.  Therefore, I'm thinking maybe the lack of adherence to tdp may not be so crucial and I'd never need irons anyway.  Basically, does it function with surplus (Port, Aussie, SA are what I have stocked) and will it get 2moa with decent hunting 308?

The barrels are good.  The 16" 4150 CL middys on the ORC are more pleasant to shoot than a carbine barrel.   I say the price is decent if it is low count, and better if it is unfired.  I picked one up new a couple years back, and now the only thing left of it are the barrel, and the stripped receivers.  Nothing wrong with the parts I changed I just can't leave anything alone.

Anyhow, my barrel has been a laser. No complaints in the accuracy department!  I really like the rifle now, and it has now convinced 3 of my buddies to buy/build .308s.  In stock form, she is a butt ugly bitch

For $600, it's a no-brainer, IMO.

Unless the rifle is trashed, you're never going to be upside down on your investment and you'll have a VERY decent .308 AR, to do with what you will.

I cannot imagine how ANY .308 AR couldn't be worth at least $600, so long as its functional or could be made functional with a minimum of fuss.

$600....hell yeah....even if it were close to shot out (which I doubt) I'd pick it just to put a varmint barrel on it in the future.

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered it.  I have a friend working at Remington so it's $550 +ship brand new from the factory on the Family/Friend deal.  I never really looked into AR10 types but this might be nice for hogs with the older 3-9x40 Nikon Monarch I have sitting in a box.  I'll report back whenever it is I get to test it.  I also got the 1911 R1 Carry for $500 as that seems to be the model with a forged frame.
Some generic pics I found until I can post mine:

Is that deal good on other models? B/c I would have picked something with a 20" barrel. The "Hunter" models are nice, I think there is a bushmaster Hunter model, if not there is the DPMS hunter...

But still, great deal. Enjoy.

No, I was thinking the same thing and that was the only 308.  A few AR15 offerings I'm not interested in and no ACR either.  Only the 783 in bolt guns and a bunch of Para 1911s.  Can't complain though since these 2 should be nice and if I really don't like them at least I'm safe and won't lose a bunch of money.
