I am building a precision upper.  

What are the benefits?  

Is there any stiffness or accuracy gain from having the rail that goes from the receiver to the end of the forearm?

Armalite used to offer them.  Anybody have a used one I could buy to try?

Not sure about accuracy being boosted by having it, but I do know that it is for mounting a PVS-27 or other IR or thermal imagers.
