| I see a lot of Mega threads, Should I take it that is the brand to go with when building? I wanted a CCMG 308 ar they were at Cddn but have dissapearded since. so I guess I am going to build one. |

If you can build it, do it. Makes the rifle have more sentimental value. Makes it yours.
Mega makes real nice stuff. But there are more and more people getting into the 308 game. Lots of nice receivers coming out. Odd ball names I can't remember, but see them popping up on ar15news.com every other week. I only wish Mega made an upper with a forward assist. Doesn't need it at all if built right, but I just like the looks really, and think mega would have a nice touch to it. Really just want it to remind me of my armalite I sold to build my MaTen. |

I know a lot of folks knock the FA...but I agree with you. I could have saved a lot of time breaking in my Mega if it had come with an FA. While breaking in the mags, I had the subsequent cartridges slowing the carrier down just due to the fresh springs...no biggie at all....I'd get a lot of almost chambered rounds that I'd have to drop the mag on and clear....if I would have had a AR-15 style FA with a properly designed FA carrier ( one with notches on the body ) I could have just tapped the FA and kept on truckin'. It's not a big deal...but there sure would have been a lot less futzing with the gun. |
