Recently I decided to build a 7.62x39 AR for a more affordable shooting experience. I purchased the Armalite 7.62x39 complete upper which claims to be a "carbine" with a 16in barrel. However after getting the upper in I realized that the gas tube is quite long is this typical of 7.62x39 gas systems or something else?

Do you have a link to the exact upper you purchased? Have you contacted Armalite?

It most likely is a mid gas system.

My 16" Armalite 7.62x39 is a mid-length gas system.
