how is the 6.8 round in reliability compared to 763x39 or 6.5 grendel?just as far as overall running of the gun goes, mag feeding, proper ejection, etc?

I've had 100% in all of those calibers.  Only one that was not was my original .458 RRA upper, but I had a custom barrel made, and haven't had issues since (original chamber was jacked up)....

In 401 rounds of 6.8, zero failures of any type (CMMG upper).   In 655 rounds of 7.62x39, one failure to fire (Model One upper).

Mine is a Bison built upper, 100% function, reliably drops them in their tracks when you place one behind the ears.

My PSA is 100% and accurate as hell.

Probably 600-800 rounds in.

well thanks for the info....i have a sweet seekins billet receiver set that im on the fence about what caliber to build.i already have 7 rifles in 556,a sig 556r in 7.62x39 and a 308 rifle.i built a 6.5 grendel and could not make it run right so i got frustrated and sold it...so im thinking 6.8 i might try next.that or 5.45?

I guess I am biased but i love my 6.8. It makes a great handy hunting rifle and feels just like my AR's that I shoot all the time.

I think you will love a 6.8....its incredibly reliable... Low recoiling rifle... My favorite rifles to shoot as I have both a 6.8 spc II and a DI six8....Definitely recommend a Bison armory or ARP barrel, SLR or Syrac adjustable gas block, and a good muzzle comp and you will be amazed at how light a recoiling gun it is to shoot.... Never had any reliability issues. Plus it seems to have growing industry support and a lot of factory ammunition options if you don't reload.... Mags and bolts are readily available.... The popular barrels like I mentioned above may take a little patience to acquire but that's the case with just about all popular barrels currently.

You can run factory OAL or long & they feed just fine for semi-automatic.

Come on over To really talk 6.8

Recieved a Stag barrel today  I am hoping it will shoot well. Still in the building stage. 6.8 SPC got to love it. Wish me luck gentlemen.

I wish someone made a shorty barrel for one. Bison used to make one and i contacted them about it and they said probably no time soon

OP, go to 68forums and ask around, tell them Wolf68 sent you.

Listen, the 6.8 is as reliable as 5.56 and probably more so, the case taper is enough that it helps with extraction , but it's not tremendously pronounced like the 7.62x39 that it can be problematic.

I have a couple thousand on my ARP Recon and I've only had a few FTFs, and all were due to the old CProducts mags, which were all sent back. The Barretts, though I didn't keep them long since I hand load were perfect, and the PRI's which I have used for almost all my shooting have never seen a hiccup of any kind.

The ASC mags are getting rave reviews, and allow you to load to 2.30 inches. I haven't tried them personally, since the last time I checked they were out of the FDE ones, which is what I want.

Anyway, go to the forum, read up, and ask questions. You'll get answers from long time users, and leaders of the industry in 6.8 stuff, including ammo makers.

You wont be sorry. I have 5.56 and 6.8, the 6.8 sees the most use.

I had a few hiccups with mine but that was due to my reloads

Works fine now

I am not sure what barrel length your looking for but the Stag 7H SS 20.77 barrel is one accurate mofo.
