Looking at getting a AR Platform 308 in the next few months. Who do you like? I am leaning towards Larue, LMT, POF, or Sig. Sounds like you ae looking for a high-end .308. For a LaRue, you're going to be waiting over a year unless you find one on gunbroker and pay about $1500 above what they go for. I don't have experience with POF or Sig, so can't comment there. I do have an LMT308MWS and it is one of the best .308's out right now. If you can score one with the Stainless Steel 1:11.25 twist barrels, you will have one of the most accurate and reliable .308's out there. I also recently found out that LMT and Knights Armament worked together and shared some design features for the SR25 and the 308MWS, so even more of a reason for me that the LMT is an amazing rifle. As you can tell, my vote is for the LMT LMT308MWS |
| I went with the LMT as well. Very high quality. Just about on par with Larue and Knights. The only downsides are weight ( the 16" is 9.9 lbs) and they are notoriously over-gassed which ensures utmost reliability in the worst conditions, but increases perceived recoil and damage to brass. I'll be getting the new DPMS when they hit the shelves, but they are a completely new and different platform that no one knows how it will hold up in the long run. I don't plan to get rid of my LMT though. |

I bought last year a DPMS .308 as my first semi and had no issues with it other than when I tried to change out the heavy barrel I had to have the gas block cut off because they had locktited the dam thing into place. Other than that it wasnt bad for a base platform.
I get my Devil Dog Arms after they get back from shot show. DDA-10B .308 |
