Started my first build and have a few questions. I am jumping head first into this and need a little help choosing a BCG and barrel.
I did a little reading and many talk about having matching bolts and barrel brands to aid in headspace. This can be a little problematic as I was thinking of a lilja or other barrels makers who don't have bolts. I would just get a JP but they don't have a 16" with rifle gas which is what I want. I guess my question is how big of a deal is it? And what do y'all do to mitigate any issues? Another question is what are some concerns with having an ultralight barrel in .308? I noticed a lot of manufactures don't do it is there a particular reason why? |

There are no measurable differences between Armalite and DPMS barrel extensions. Lilja barrels are compatible with either Armalite or DPMS bolts.
Fulton Armory sells a light profile 16" barrel.(it's rifle gas too) I think most folks aren't interested in ultralight 308 barrels because the weight reduction just isn't as significant when compared to the weight of a 308 bcg or loaded magazine. |

Good to know. The FA barrel Is what I was looking at. I was about to pull the trigger but wanted to ask why it's not more popular as most try to keep 308ARs as light as possible. As this rifle will be somewhat of a blaster do you think heat may be an issue with a LW? While it won't be full auto it will go through a few mags fairly quickly. |
