DPMS Lite Weight Hunter....Wonder what the ship times are?
I probably should have asked what the definition of their light weight 20" barrel is before I bought I went full retard anyway. |
|
It's a 7.99lb gun empty. What caliber did you get?
Lite Hunter |

308, how does that carbon fiber handguard hold up and what kind of profile does that barrel come in?
I looked at all the models "DPMS" offers. I wanted the dust-cover and forward assist and at least a mid-length. I really liked the Bushmaster ORC but decided that kind of defeated the purpose with the standard handguards and shorter barrel. My buddy has the 20" varmint style dpms and it is a heavy SOB. The Lite Hunter looks like a good compromise, still capable of great accuracy out to longer distances which is what I want. |

20" hunting 308 with reasonable wt is definitely feasible. as shown with glass, sling and 5 rounder i'm carrying a little over 10 lbs. go with simple, light glass and rings. leave off giant heavy parasitic brakes, buis's and bipods. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn86/mechanicus1/IMG_3278_zps34499f76.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn86/mechanicus1/IMG_3277_zps66666b09.jpg Nice, that is about what I will have. What kind of groups are you getting? |

10lbs 8oz empty
12lbs even with a full 20LR http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq223/markdavidson64/2013-11-23085421_zpsca3ae452.jpg |

I have the Lite hunter in .338 federal and the rifle barely breaks 10lbs with scope, 4 round mag and sling with 5 extra rd. Mine has a SS barrel and is fluted to save weight. I can shoot 3/4 to 1 inch 5 round groups at 100yds all day long. I hope you get yours quickly. I searched for a long time to find mine and it was well worth it. I will never sell this rifle. semper fi |

I have a DPMS LRL...the "lightweight" stainless 24" model. I don't know what normal 308's weigh, but after adding a 4-16 scope, and a PRS stock, Im over 13 lbs with a mag in it. heavy IMO. I ordered the 20" and it has a carbon fiber free float (I hope that stands up to being dropped) and I will be adding a 6x42 springfield scope. |

thats bad medicine, no doubt. would you mind weighing it just like it is there (scope/mag/sling/etc)? My bathroom scale says 10 lbs with an empty mag as pictured in the photo. The barrel is a fairly light profile like you would see on any hunting rifle but I'm psyched that it already has a 2 stage trigger. I'm thinking it's going to be a real tack driver. |
