Ok so i finally got my glass for my lr260.vortex razor hd 5-20x50.
So now which mount to get. I want a one peace for sure. Anyone with this optic on their lr or similar rifle care to share what you went with and what hight? Thanks |
| I have the same scope, just not on my AR. You will love it though. As for mounts, how deep are your pockets? American Defense makes an awesome mount for the money. I like them better than LaRue and Bobro. Other quality mounts to consider would be American Rifle Company and SPHUR. |

As for price, im in this far on $$ so why skimp now if there is going to be a quality difference. No point in great glass and a cheap mount. Also should i get one with 20moa already built into it? |

You probably won't need it but why not. It doesn't hurt to have it. |

I'm pretty new to long range shooting but when I was getting my 6.5 Grendel set up and was looking at scopes and mounts I was advised by an experienced LR shooter to choose a mount with 10 moa built in for my Vortex Viper HS LR 4-16x50 to get full capability. I assumed he knew what he was talking about, this particular scope was his personal scope before he upgraded. I actually bought a new version of the mount he was using to get the 10 moa of down angle ( a LaRue SPR-S LT158). It seems, if it was needed in my case, it would be needed in CSPCRX's case also.
Any of you LR shooters have an opinion on this? I'm sure he wants to know before buying and I'm curious also although I've already bought my stuff so I'm just curious if I really needed a mount with 10 moa down angle or not. CSPCRX, just for an FYI, the LaRue mounts are really nice. Definitely a "high end" mount. Sounds like you have a really nice setup, congrats. |
| Not sure why someone would recommend a 10 MOA base/mount over a 20 MOA mount. The 20 MOA mount will still allow you to have a 100 yard zero yet still give you more adjustment in elevation. The purpose of the cant in the mounts is to maximize the elevation adjustment for longer range shooting. 20MOA is pretty standard for scope bases and mounts among long range shooters. The only reason I could think of using a 10 MOA mount would be if your scope didn't have enough internal travel to zero with a 20 moa mount (which the Vortex Viper and Razor have plenty of travel). |

Thanks to both of you! Yes i want to get one and be done. I want to shoot 1k, but know the reality is 500 to 800 is the most i will see. 1k has always been a shooting wish and personal challenge for me. So when i stumbled into an DPMS LR260 i was excited to get an optic that will serve that roll. The range 15 min from my house has a 1k range so i will get my chance once i pick the right mount.
Then i will probably need to upgrade my 18 inch barrel to a 22 inch so i dont lose so much velocity. I chronographed so factory ammo and was amazed at the velocites verses what th box claimed. |

The reason I was told was that with my Grendel (18" barrel) and the scope I was using, which I bought from the guy who recommended the 10 moa mount, there was a slight chance I might run out of travel. He said the 20 moa was way more than I would need so he suggested the 10moa mount sort of a just in case thing and its the same mount he used with the same scope so it was a proven combo, seemed like an easy choice to me. If I "might" need a bit of cant the 10 moa made sense but even more moa made no sense. I have no idea if I'm even making sense to anyone else lol. Either way, thanks for the information |

I guess i see where he was going. Why have more than you need. Mine could probably get away with it, especially with all of the elivation a 35mm tube gives.
I stumbled on a mount from aadland called their addmount. It has 20 moa and an integrated level, one less thing to get hung up on. They also offer a rail front cap so i could through a red dot on if i wanted for shorter range shots. At $250 it aint cheap though. |

Your 260 will have plenty of legs past 800yds. Just get the 20moa mount and enjoy a nice setup. On my 6.5CM I used a 20MOA base with low rings from Leupold. They aren't the greatest rings, but they are the only low rings I could find in stock at the time. They are OK, but not great considering the size of the scope (5.5-20 NF NXS).
Pics? Still bone stock? My friend has backordered the 6.5CM upper from Midway but it's listed as overdue. |

I am waiting on an anwer from AADLAND but looks like for the pirce that is going to be the one to go with. I do not see the need to removed the scope quickly, so a QD system is not required for the way I will use the rifle.
As soon as its mounted up I will try and snap a shot. It started live as a DPMS LR260 hunting edition. Other than the aluminum ff handguard it is as it came from DPMS. Planing a PRS stock for it and the Razor optic, when I get the mount. Eventually I want to change the barrel to a 22in so the velocities are not so low, current barrel is 18in. |

aadland called me and said the cap with the rail for the 35mm is not going to be out for a while. Not a deal killer just wanted to see if could get it. Now, if swfa will have a black friday sale i am golden!
It is the mount i am going to get. With it being so close to black friday i am hoping to save a few bucks. LOL! Thanks for the help everyone, really eager to let this rifle stretch its legs. This round excited me when i learned about it. |
