So I finished the 308 build, lubed it up, and headed to the range.  Loaded a handful of rounds into the magpul magazine, drew the charging handle back and released.  Bolt catches the bullet and starts to slide it out of the magazine, but as the bullet angles up and starts to slide past the feed ramps, it seems like the tip of the bullet hit the top of the opening of barrel and gets hung-up.  I changed to different magpul magazine, and I changed to different ammo with no change in the feeding issue.  When I help direct the bullet in, bullet seats in the chamber correctly, and it does fire and eject properly, but for some reason, she won't feed.  Any thoughts on the bullet getting hung-up on the feed?

Thanks in advance.

I'm having similar problems with my lr260 build, except the tip of the bullet hits the bottom of the barrel where the chamfer is.  The bullet does chamber, but most of the time it pushes the bullet into the case.  So what I did was chamfer the end of the barrel slightly so that it kind of makes a ramp for the bullet to follow.  Now I can at least cycle dummy rounds without forcing the bullet into the case.  Will have to go to the range to ops check.
As far as your problem, slowly try to chamber a dummy round into the chamber and see if the bullet is forced upwards too much, or that your mags are sitting too low in your lower.  If the bullet is forced up by the feed ramp of the extension, you might be able to open them up a little.  Other than that, I have no idea without seeing what's going on.

Btw, at the range when I initially encountered the problem, I was so frustrated about the bullet set backs and feed problems, that I went ahead and fired them to see if I'd blow up the rifle.  Didn't happen, but the accuracy wasn't there.  Maybe 3 moa.  Set backs were so severe that the bullets were completely into the case and loose.  I really wouldn't advise doing this, but atleast me and the rifle survived.

Are you getting full bolt travel?  i.e. will it lock back?

Yes, I"m getting full bolt travel and I have the same issue regardless if I pull the charging handle and allow the BCG to snap back on its own, or pull the charging handle control the bullet pickup and slowly allow it to try to chamber.  As I watch the bullet exit the magazine, the tip of the bullet does ride nicely into left or right side feed ramp but it's like the brass drags a bit so when the bullet starts to nose-up as it passes through feed-ramp, it just continues to point the tip of the bullet too high because the brass is not yet clear of the magazine.

Problem solved.  Gun store handed me a spring/buffer for my 308 and apparently the spring is for the 308 but the buffer was for a 9mm.  Now it works perfectly.

As you did in bold below, "riding the charging handle" will almost always misfeed, from my experience.

Glad you were able to resolve it.  Did you accidentally buy the 9mm buffer?  And how did it have full travel?  iirc, the 9mm buffer is the same length as a carbine buffer, and the 308 buffer is about 3/4" shorter.

I "bought" and 308 bolt and spring and the guy at the gun shop handed me a bolt and spring.....whether he picked the wrong item or it was in the wrong bin, I don't know.  This being my first build, I assumed he gave me right parts.  And with respect to travel, I thought it was full travel because the bolt would pickup the bullet.....but again, this being my first build, I was unaware I wan't getting full extension.  With the correct buffer installed, cycles like butter now.

Full travel will allow the bolt to be caught by the bolt catch.

And that was the primary hint of an issue....the bolt would try to catch, but not completely catch like on my 5.56 rifle....but I thought it might be an issue with my BCG or bolt catch....never occurred to me the armorer at the gun shop would hand me the wrong buffer.
