I picked up a BM MOE .308 Mid a couple days ago and just got around to disassembling it to clean and lube. When I pulled the BCG out the firing pin retainer pin just fell out as one of the ears was sheared a little.

Before I order an new one I was wondering if there is a better designed one out there and can I use an AR10's pin reliably.

What are you all doing in yours?

Thanks

Well, I ordered AR10 FPRP's and am going to try it out.

i've been told that this is normal.

i spread the ears out a little and that seemed to help.  i also keep two in the box in case i need to open it up and drop it in the field or it falls off the bench and rolls down a black hole

I assembled the DPMS bolt recently with DPMS parts and noticed the same where it just fell out.  I stuck a screw driver (thin one) that slighly spread it apart for a while and that made it lock in.  Then I tapped it in with a rubber hammer after that.

I understand that about creating tension. My issue was there is only 1.5 ears total as one of the ears is sheared showing bare metal and only half the size of the other ear. When I get in my AR10 parts I will let you all know how it goes.

I had onew exactly like the OP's. I called DPMS and a new retaining pin was in my mailbox a week later at no charge.Give them a call.

I am going to call them.

On a positive note, the Armalite AR10 firing pin retaining pins do fit. I just got a couple in from Armalite and tested it out on my rifle. I had to use needle nose pliers to tweak the pin open just a HAIR and it works excellent. I prefer this pins design better as its easier to remove and should be more durable.
