| I built a ar-15 7.62x39. It shoots american ammo fine but the foreign stuff like Tula and Wolf having ignition problems. It strikes the primer but no shoot. Reload the struck primer ammo it will fire. Tried shaving off the bolt end and grinding down the firing pin base but still having problems. Do you have to grind the firing pin tip to let project out of the bolt face further. I shaved enough off the bolt that now there is a gap between firing pin base and bolt gas tube port. Anyone have experience with such a problem any help would be appreciated or suggestions. |
| I removed at least that much it seem the the tip of teh firing pin wont stick out any further of the bolt face as there is a gap between firing pin flange and bolt gas port now, seem like the tip of the pin needs to be filed down so it will protrude further out of the bolt face. It is an enhanced bolt meaning nibx coated i think. |

So the firing pin's "shelf" or "base" is thinner allowing further protrusion through the bolt face.
What kind of trigger group are you running? I cut the tail off the hammer on mine and am running reduced power JP yellow springs on a LMT FCG. Also, who made the carrier you're running? Are the hammer springs sitting on top of the hammer pin? |

Ah the picture of the enhanced firing pin shows extended tip thats what i need to do. Running speed hamer mod got QMS trigger group installed. Hammer springs are sitting on top of trigger pin. Speed hammer helped my .223 but did not help this 7.62x39. But that picture is worth a thousand words lol. Ordered enhanced firing pin from Model 1. Thanks. Tricky grind on the tip of firing pin |

If the enhanced fp doesn't do it all for you try swapping the hammer spring for the Wolff xp spring. I run both the xp spring and the galati fp and I have yet to have a tula not pop on the first strike. This. If you are hitting the primer, you have enough firing pin protrusion, but not necessarily enough force behind it. |

get a 7.62x39 firing pin. I got one from Model1sales that works great even with tough primers. Its just a longer pin with slightly more blunt tip.
Before I bought one I grinded the shoulder off stock pin to make projection through bolt longer. It worked but when special 762x39 pin arrived I installed new one. I have not had FTF since. I had saved ammo w/ dents from stock f pin and shot them up. |
