So because of the panic buying I have around 4 assembled uppers and various other parts . I'm looking to build a general purpose Brush Gun (Hunting and maybe some competition) on the AR platform and decided 6.8 is the way to go for my needs. Several reasons such as flexibility, don't plan on running a can, and I love reloading! So I'm looking for a barrel at this point and strongly leaning towards bison armoury 16 " recon mid length bead blasted stainless as well as matching bolt ( I have some spare carriers). Anyways judging from email correspondance they seem like a great company answered any questions I had and I would love to give them my business. My goto is usually WOA but there products seem great and they mention use of ER Shaw and WOA. Anyone have direct experience with their barrels? What kind of performance should I expect, durability, and ongoing customer support? Any Feedback would be appreciated Thanks!

I don't have any experience with Bison barrels (I have an ARP barrel.). But, I have not heard any negative experience with them. Except, some times Ben is a little slow on return emails. But, he is a one man operation & a great guy from what I've heard.
Top shelf barrels. It will serve you well. I'd say go for it!
Don't forget; You will need 6.8 mags too.

I have an ARP barrel also but I wouldn't hesitate on the Bison. Heard good things about them. I love my 6.8 and really enjoy shooting it more than my 5.56. If you are going to reload Shooters Pro Shop has some Nosler over runs in stock. http://shootersproshop.com/index.php...roduct_id=1167

Good luck and enjoy your 6.8

SSSHHHHH: Quiet on that!  We don't want it spread too loud. Don't want them sold out before we can get to a computer.

There goes another secret fishin' hole.

Another vote for AR-P and Bison.

He was very quick to respond to my emails and very polite. Since you brought up mags I know I'll have to purchase 6.8 mags have some c -products on order and looking at some pri's. I have a windfall of 20 round pmags I've heard you can load those up with like 6 rounds and they'll function anyone done or do this? I would never use it for primary but for range and general use is it kosher?

Be sure that your mags are C-Products Defense (CPD) as opposed to old C-Products.
PRI 6.8 mags are probably the best 6.8 mags. They are butt-welded unlike the lap joints that the others use.
This ensures a greater COAL if you are a handloader and overall PRI quality is high.

Some like Barret mags but they only come in 30 rd which is not a useful size for many 6.8 shooters.

Forget 5.56 mags for 6.8....many have beaten their heads against the proverbial wall trying to make this work.
Get 6.8 mags.

Yes, he was. I was just sort of joking him a little. Direct-drive caught the (sort of) joke(about the honey hole).
Anyhoo, I agree with his mag comment. Although, my ASCs do really well. They're just a hair shorter than the CPDs & PRIs (2.280-2.295). I also, have CPDs.

I have ARP barrels, but Bison would be my next choice.  I have had good luck with CProducts and ASC mags.  The ones I've used were the older mags so I can't load quite as long as the new ones.  I've actually got some of the new ones waiting at my house for when I finish this deployment.

Thanks to the link for the 6.8 bullets.  I ordered 500, which should last me quite awhile.

Stay safe & thanks for your service!!

PS How do you think the 6.8 would do over there?

6.8 is heavier to carry and reduces magazine capacity.  I am happy with the performance of 5.56.  If anything I would issue better ammunition.  I think the Marine Corps is going the right direction with the MK318 ammunition.  The major benefit of the 6.8 are seen in short barrels where velocity can be gained quickly.  I've got 12.5" and 16" 6.8 uppers and I've considered getting rid of the 16 because the 12.5 fulfills all my needs and the 16" is just unneeded barrel length.

ETA: I think the 6.8 makes an excellent patrol carbine for police as well as a home defense and hunting cartridge.  In these rolls 5 less rounds per magazine is less critical and the extra weight doesn't really matter.  The velocity available in the short platforms make for excellent terminal performance.  I'm still running a 10" suppressed 5.56 (with 75gr TAP) for my home defense rifle, but if I had a short 6.8 or .30 can I would consider swapping to my 6.8 upper.

Thanks for all you input I'm going to go for it! 16" stainless bead blasted recon 1:11 mid-length with head spaced bolt. Going to also use badger mk12 gas block and PRI FF hand guard. I got some other ideas floating around. Probably going to take my SWFA 1-4 super sniper and larue spre off my other ar and let it ride this setup. Got a good lower for it but I'm debating using a cav 15 MKII for having a light weight build for lugging around in the brush. I always love this part of the build process! I'll keep the progress posted thanks again for all the advice!

The PRI tube is kind of heavy.  You can save quite a bit of weight by going to the Midwest Industries G2 SS.  If you want a full quad rail then Seekins SAR rails are 12oz for a 12" version.  Weight out front is more important than weight at the rear of the rifle.  The heavier it is out front the harder it is to hold it up for long periods of time.

ETA: I looked up the weight on PRI's website and the tube by itself without any rails is 11.2oz, with the top and bottom rails it appears to be 16.5oz.  The G2 SS is 9.3oz with a full top rail.

Go to www.68forums.com and join in on the fun there. That's where you'll find a lot of the answers n stuff for the 68. I have an 18" Bison upper w the stainless bead blasted finish and the PRI Gen III free float tube in the natural finish, it looks great n shoots great! You'll love yours as well. Ben is great to deal with. And imo, stick w the PRI tube, it might not be the lightest, but it looks really good!!   B-)

My other choices are the Alpha rails which I own and love and was considering the samson evo. The PRI just looks good I figured it was much lighter than that wow. Afte doing some research rails that might seem "light" come in at upwards of 14oz at the 9-13". Ideally I'm looking for a 12-13" inch non interrupted rail but the PRI just looks so good

Yeah, I wish I had the funds when they had the Nosler 110 gr Accubonds on there for like $15 per 50 awhile back. I check that site every day now. They had 180 gr .308 partitions for $17 per 50 earlier this week.

Everything that's been sad so far is pretty much spot on. I will add, if you are reloading, there is no substitute for the PRI mags.

The C Products Defense mags may or may not hold 2.30. They're great mags, but I haven't had the chance to test out the revision since the first batch. The first batch had a welding issue, but they were revised. If they now hold the 2.30 COAL like they're supposed to, then I would try some out. I had planned on getting a couple after I sent the first batch back, but I had a cash shortage, then needed some other things, and then Sandy Hook and the madness stepped in.

I do intend on testing some and writing a review on them.
