Hey guys, I just traded one of my AR15's for a DPMS 308 AR, my question is, I hate the stock pistol grip, can I put a regular Magpul MOE on it or do I need a special sized one?  Also if anyone knows a store or online dealer that will ship 20 round mags to a NY LEO with ID, please let me know.  Thanks.

Magpul MOE and MOE+ Grips will work fine on DPMS LR308. I have MOE+, I really like the rubberized texture.

I don't know if a MOE will fit but a  MIAD will fit the LR-308 but you'll to buy a grip wedge to fill the gap.
This:

hope this helps,
MIAD with that wedge is how mine is set up

The MOE will fit but the spring for the takedown pin detent might go into a hollow spot on top of the grip.   The takedown pin detent/spring on a LR308 is not in the same place as on an AR15 (held in by the stock or endplate).  It is held by the grip.  I had to fill in the hollow section of the MOE grip with epoxy.  It works fine now.

The rear takedown pin detent and spring are retained by the grip, red arrow in this picture. Some grips don't have a solid web right there, so you can do something like pwalker11 said to fill in the hollow area. There are some grips that do have a solid web in the right spot, but some don't so it's something you need to be aware of. This one is an Ergo grip plus the Ergo spacer, but I don't love it - too skinny. That grip wedge that gunner442 mentioned is exactly what I've been looking for, I'll be getting one of those and a MIAD asap. Thanks gunner!

Actually, the better way to handle this issue is to tap the upper portion (closest to the surface) of the hole for a small grub/set screw and retain the spring in the receiver body similar to a Mega MaTEN. With this you have no worries as to what grip you use and the spring/detent never falls out when removing the grip.

This is not intended to offend you but is just a question. As a LEO are you exempt from NY new mag laws for your personal firearms? If so, that is the saddest law I have ever heard of. Sorry to ask a question like that, hope it does not derail the thread. But to answer your question, no, I do not know of any.
