I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but I couldn't find anything else about it. Here we go. On a 9mm ar can you use a standard 5.56 upper with out theforward assist? I'm notnbig on the looks of the standard 9mm upper with the shorter ejection cover. I know spikes makes a upper that's a standard 556 without the forward assist. Also anyone use a ddles dedicated 9mm lower? What's a good barrel length 5" 7.5" or 10.5" will attach a gemtech suppressor later. Ballisticly speaking best barrel length with a suppressor for 25-50yrds and 50-100yrds.
thanks.

I also hate the short door.

The only difference would be the 556 deflector bump and the hole for the gas tube

If you find a 9mm upper, no bump, forward assist, or gas hole

And yea, my front sight is on backwards

VM Hytech mag block.

Takes un modified UZI mags. Only issue I have with it is muscle memory, I keep trying to eject the whole block and mag. Rather than using the UZI style release on the left side.

I hate to say it, but I may have to voluntarily install a CA compliant bullet button to prevent it.

Lol.  That's what I did on mine.

Look a little farther down for the Rimfire and Pistol Caliber forum for lots more on 9mm ARs.

Any, (that means any standard upper will work on a 9mm setup (speaking specifically of the Colt-type 9s).  You can even go with one with a forward assist - it won't hurt anything.  The short ejection port door and plastic gas deflector are helpful in some situations, but they aren't necessary.  And using a standard upper with a gas tube hole won't hurt anything either.

I use a Rock River block, which stays in the mag well and requires either SMG-type magazines with a slot for the standard mag catch or Uzi mags with that slot added, so I don't worry about muscle memory messing me up.

I don't know much about the best barrel length for a suppressor, but a 10.5" barrel (SBR here) kicks serious ass.

My YHM factory built upper.  Came with a standard upper with a forward assist and standard door.
