| I was looking at the CMMG 308, any one have experience with them? Any help would be great. Thanks |
| Really like mine. Haven't had any problems feeding various ammunition. Decent accuracy with the junk I was firing through it. Haven't had a chance to fire any good match ammo through it yet, but considering how it does with the cheap junk, it should perform just fine. |

I had a mixed experience initially - rifle looked great (nice fit and finish) but it had ejection issues. It went back to CMMG and while they didn't fix it, they did swap the barrel out as part of the "repair" at my request. Their customer service was excellent, they just didn't know what the problem was. From everything I've been reading since then, it appears that there either is or was an issue with oversized gas ports in some barrels. I will say that once I went to an adjustable gas block, the rifle has been excellent. Perfect reliability and acceptable accuracy for a stock rifle. Here are a few links that might help:

| I've shot one MK3 and it performed much like my N6. Minute of steel gong with DAQ, sub moa with 175 SMK's. The owner did have a few FTF when brand new, after about 100 rds those stopped. Plus he was running it pretty dry, the ,308's like to have some light grease on the carrier rails and lots of lube on the bolt/carrier. |

I have an MK3 and it performs fine with Cproducts steel mags. When I tried to use Pmags I had problems with ejection. The fired case was not ejecting and resulted in a jam with the live round and spent case both getting stuck. I will probably try some different Pmags next time and see if it works then. |

Hi Firemed You can do better than cmmg. Two of our members over on the 308 forum have had nothing but problems with their cmmg 308's. seems like its always ejection problems....there is no excuse for that coming from a mfg.
Both of them have sent their rifles back to cmmg to get them fixed to no avail. their customer service is polite, but the repair shop is lacking. I would never buy one of their 308 platforms |

Even with the FTE issue I had I would buy my rifle all over again. Even adding the adjustable gas block out of pocket ($70), it's still one hell of a rifle for the money. Billet, Cerakote, MOE, free-float handguard/rail system, decent stock 2-stage trigger, SS barrel - that's a hard package to beat for $1100-$1200. Is it an OBR? No - but I didn't expect it to be. I looked at a whole lot of rifles before picking up the CMMG and it came the closest to what I was looking for. I may swap out the barrel at some point but for now, it's just fine the way it is.
While there have been some folks with problems (and I was one of them), once they were resolved, it's been a great rifle and I've got well over 1000 rounds downrange so far. A sample size of just a few people really isn't indicative of everyone's experience. CMMG made a lot of these rifles and while there were obviously some teething problems, name a manufacturer who hasn't had some type of issue at some point. Just my thoughts... |
| I've has one for about 6 months with the 18" SASS and it has run flawlessly. The fact that it uses PMAGS is great. I just bought a new Sig 716 and it uses the 20 rnd PMAGs as well. t is accurate but like 168gr or heavier bullets. It shoots along side of my Armalites in accuracy. It is a tad heavy with the mega heavy barrel. |
