Alright gents, I am in need of your expertise.  With all of these "new" rounds flying around, reading ballistic tables, studying terminal & exterior ballistics... I am only more and more confused!  Here are my build specs/goals:

18-20" barrel (ish - depending on the caliber selected)
300-800yd shots
hunting out to around 500yds, MAYBE 600yds, on occasion (typical engagements are 250yds and under, but I would like the ability to take game at 500yds)
game would be coyotes, deer, or hog
paper targets out to 800yds+
must be AR15 platform (or this wouldn't be a discussion, I'd be getting an .308 M1A and EBR-ing it)
the rifle will be scoped
good factory loads (I don't intend to reload...yet anyway)
good industry support

The calibers I've spent the most time researching are 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel.  From what I understand, 300 BLK isn't good for those kinds of distances.  I'm not intending this to be another "6.8 vs 6.5" war thread, I want to know with my specific criteria, what people more experienced in either or both calibers recommend.  So what are your thoughts?  Thanks for your time,

OpJ
