I've started acquiring parts for my 458 Socom Upper (already purchased a Wilson Combat Build Kit ). I'm wanting to use a Mega upper receiver and think I remember hearing or reading somewhere that they already have the modified/enlarged ejection port but can't seem to find anything that can tell me for sure. If anyone has any idea as to whether or not this is true would be a huge help with furthering this build!

Two questions.
First about the Mega upper:  Doesn't that Mega upper do away with the EP cover all together?  That would suck if it did for those of us who like EP covers.  Good thing it is simple enough to open the EP opening in the upper to clear the SOCOM's case and still latch shut.

Second Q to the OP:  Would you please look at your barrel extension and tell us if the lower bolt lug on the barrel extension (the one that should be slam in the middle of the feed ramp) has been removed, greatly reduced in size, or still present?
Thanks.

not trying to but in on the OP.   But its just one big smooth ramp on the wilson,  my RRA looks close to the same after i worked on it 3 years ago.

By the looks of it, it does completely do away with the EP cover and forward assist kinda like the DPMS Low-Profile. Although I like EP covers for what ever reason I just want to do something a bit different with my .458.

Not sure if anyone's interested or not but figured I would add the specs for this upper.

MEGA Heavy Duty Billet Upper
Wilson Combat Heavyweight 16" Build Kit (Whisper Suppressor Muzzle Break)
Samson Evolution 11" Handguard

Not sure exactly what optics I'm going to put on but I'll worry more about that when I'm closer to being finished.

Had him do a VLTOR 1-A.
1)  Strip it before shipping
2)  Wash with degreaser upon return
3)  Hit with BC Aluma-Black

Thank God for the brutally strong MEGA uppers (why can't they forge them that size? I'd pay the difference}
BUTT!!! I will only have a need for one in a specific 6mmAR Turbo 40 IMP build with a 24-26" pipe.  Well, hell, then
I probably should just send GAP my 1999 24" AR-10(T) and have a 26" GAP 6mm Creedmoor pipe fitted.

VLTOR MUR FTW

If I may ask, what did Paladin charge for opening it up?

Thanks.

Let me get back with you on that.  I believe the work was $35 plus S&H.

BUTT!!! I may be wrong and the whole da-da-darn thang might have been $35 with return shipping.

I'm an old man, give me a few.

EDIT: http://458socomforums.com/index.php?topic=122.0

Yepper, I think that $35 was the total.  If'n not, still a good price for the work done.

EDIT II: I will do my best to take take down my Marty upper from original to MUR A1/Armalite goodness in 24 hours... with
JP adj. gas block.

I fucking hate DPMS shit stuff.
Even if it is the first kind of its stuff and nowhere else available.

EDIT again,

Been busy, .gov contract.  Really, I mean it.  No shit.
