Have been looking around online for the past few days, not really SCOURING the net, but I have put some decent effort into actually finding a DPMS-compatible BCG  and I have failed thus far. I called DPMS today and they're up to a 6 month lead time I would prefer a chrome model, but it is not essential. Any of you fellas seen or heard of any dealers with them in stock? Also, I emailed Young Manufacturing air asked if they had any available, waiting for a response. Thanks.

Have you called young manufacturing.  I popped in and picked one up about a week ago.  then ordered a bolt from JP, and the remainder of the parts from brownells.  not the cheapest way, but i have exactly what i want.

I called today, but it was towards the end of the work day and I guess they were done, or out in the shop.

I think Armalite and DPMS BCGs are interchangeable.

Um, abso-freaking-lutely not.  Good way to blow the front portion of your face/head off dude.  DO NOT mix AR10/DPMS bolts/barrel extensions.

No, Armalite and DPMS have different bolts, the barrels each use different barrel extensions, therefore you must have the correct bolt.  IIRC for carrier is the same.

Thanks fellas. I'll try Young again tomorrow, and hopefully hear back from them before the end of the week. If not I'll definitely give Rainier a shout.

I'll try not to blow my face (or more valuable body parts) off

Ever measured both side by side?

Yes.
I have head space gauges that fail miserably with mixed patterns. Been there done that on this one - had to see it for myself.

I was under the impression the carriers were not compatible as well. Considering the lag time on Armalite BCG's and a lack of finish options, i would love some clarification on this.

Young Mfg had two carriers remaining in stock when I called today, now they're down to one!

Strange, I have 2 Armalite and 5 or 6 DPMS and they are the same.   .125 recess.
I've been swapping bolts back and forth on a 243 and 3 -308s since 2004

I built a DPMS platform .308 WITH a Noveske 16" barrel AND a DPMS BCG. I had no issues at all.
The key point here is to check head space. Everything checked out, so I proceeded to build.

When I had GA Precision build my first AR10, I sent an Armalite barrel extension with a DPMS BCG.  They told me they had measured both Armalite and DPMS extensions, and they appeared to be the same, but since the metal type was unknown, they chose to err on the side of caution and keep them segregated to each company appropriately.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're sourced from the same datum.

Nope - they're different.  Ask any of the manufacturers, or buy some headspace gauges.

I was absolutely convinced they were the same - kept hearing Noveske, IRA, MEGA and many others tell me they're slightly different.  Finally I bought some gauges and measured the combinations.  Not even close.  Bolt wouldn't even close over the gauge by a fair amount.  That equals kaboom on a .308 scale.

I headspaced an Noveske (ar10) barrel with a DPMS BCG on a DPMS style upper and everything was good. Look a couple posts above

If it passed headspace you should be good to go.  My parts didn't and they shouldn't.

So unless everybody wants to buy $40 in head-space gauges, risk having to eat/return a bunch of crap that doesn't work together, they can just do as most folks "in the know" say to do, which is DON'T mix 'em.  I don't F around when it comes to headspace.  Why even take the chance?  I think my NiB coated Armalite BCG is a far better BCG than the DPMS I tried in my Noveske barrel anyway.
