I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 308 AR and after looking at the SASS and REPR from DPMS I'm not sure where the $700 difference is.  I'm really new to all of this so excuse me if this is a dumb question but I was hoping you guys could shed some light on this for me.  What are the major differences between the 2?  And are those difference worth $700 in your opinion?

Thanks guys

I think you'll find if you take a look at the features, build quality, ect. it will be a no brainer to go with the LWRC.  I've owned both and would never go back to a DPMS.  Kind of like a Tahoe vs. an Escalade.  They will both get the job done but the other is more refined, built with nicer materials, ect.  All analogies aside, really any product from LWRC far exceeds the milspec type quality that DPMS offers. You could put the extra money towards an optic, ammo, and other items, but if the budget allows get the nicer rifle and build from there.

Good luck

I would love to get an LWRC REPR but thats quite a bit of coin.  The only one's I can find are about $3400....is that the standard price for one?  If so thats out of my range.

As far as the difference between DPMS REPR and DPMS SASS whats the $700 difference and is it worth it?

most of that $700 differance is in the barrel and custom handguard.
handguards are milled in house one at a time.
barrel is from one of the major high end makers. tho i dont know which one they setteled on for final production.

I have looked over the REPR and really like the 18" version but I feel it is overpirced.  When you compare the OBR, GAP 10 or the LRP 07, all are cheaper and better shooters.   The 18" REPR I shot was slightly disappointing with its accuracy at 100 to 300 meter ranges.  It's balance was great and I like the side charging handle.  For the money and accuracy, I am headed another way.

....Tahoe vs. an Escalade...? Not sure that is right comparsion.

LWRC REPR is piston (OP-rod) driven with a side charging handle.
DPMS SASS is DI operated in a traditional AR platform

Mechanically they are different. Both are not build by Democrats voting Union thugs and did not take your tax dollar.

Beside, the OP is comparing DPMS REPR and DPMS SASS. Just a glance, the Norgen Ambi Mag release + two stage trigger cost about $400 more.

The $700 difference is what it costs to shave 2 lbs off the gun... worth it!

Hmmm....well at the price for the DPMS REPR I think I would probably go with the GAP 10 or POF 308.

How much do those 2 rifles weigh?

How much of a drop is there in effective range going from 18" to 16"?

My order is for the DPMS REPR, I am waiting and counting the days clicking by. (The AAC adapter fits a can.)
