Well the 80gr Barnes TTSX will not work. They will not chamber the bullet is to fat up front i would have to ream out the throat for that bullet.
But 88 gr Berger and 90gr Lapua chamber no problem. I guess for now i will stick with 75gr V-Max's i have them running 2900-3000fps just have to test some loads for accuracy. I would like to know if the 85gr Nosler Partition will work without having to buy them but i know thats the only way to find out unless someone wants to trade them for some Barnes 80gr TTSX.

I'll send you a few 85 partitions, pm me.

You can also load the TTSX shorter to make them work, what length are you loading to?

They are in the mail.

The 85gr Partition is not a real pointed bullet, it will probably have to be loaded short to stop it from hitting the lands. It is a good bit shorter than the TTSX, so it will not effect powder capacity as much to shorten OAL a bit.

IIRC the 80 TTSX is about the same length as the 100gr partition.

When I built the 6 Grendel (243 LBC) I first looked at doing a 6 SPC, but case capacity of the longer skinnier case of the 6.8 is much more effected by longer bullets, than the Grendel.  The 6.8 case and the 6.5 case empty are pretty close in capacity, but not when you load a given bullet in both cases to mag length, the Grendel holds a good bit more powder

The shadow on the tip makes it look longer than it is.

I have them packed up and will be shipped out Monday morning. Thanks again Mike

What is the length of the Nosler?

The 85gr partitions are .95'', they work great in a 6x45. but with your VLD chamber, you will have to load a little shorter.

If the partitions dont work i just found the berger 87gr VLD Hunting bullets. I just hope they will perform in the 2700-2800fps range thats about all i will be able to get out of my round with these bullets.

The 87gr VLD should work fine at mag length, but I am guessing the partitions will not. The 6.5 Partition 100gr sticks in the lands of my 6.5PCC when loaded to mag length, I will have to shorten OAL a little.

Did Dave at PTG help you design your reamer?

I have the 70gr Nosler BT's going over 2900 fps from a 20" 6x45(and shooting .25" groups) so I figured a 75gr V-Max from a 243 would be MUCH faster than 2900-3000 fps.

The MGP is based on a 6.8 SPC case

I use Dave Manson for my reamers. Im thinking the partition is not going to work but cant wait to try. If i use the 87gr VLD they would be a nice flat shooting bullet to buck the wind compared to the Partition.

ETA:   Its been  a couple of years since i played with this round and going back to my notes i designed it to work with the 88gr Berger so im guessing the 87gr VLD is going to be the bullet that will work. I can load them up to 2.315 OAL so i can get a good amount of powder in the case.

Got'em, did you get the Partitions? The partition is a bunch shorter, so even if you have to load shorter, you will have more room for powder.

What mag are you using that you can load to 2.315 OAL?
