I've been considering building an upper specifically for prairie dogs, and I found a RRA .204 upper with the 24" stainless 1-12" bull barrel at a great price.  How does their accuracy compare to DPMS, WOA, etc.?

The price on this is hard to beat, but regardless of price, I'll be disappointed if I can't load something that shoots 3/8 or at least 1/2" at 100yds.  Is it reasonable to expect that kind of accuracy with the RRA upper?  I didn't even RRA offered them til the last couple weeks, have the ybeen out long enough to have any kind of reputation?

Thanks!

Oh, another quick question - are CCI BR4 bench rest primers ok for .204 or will they pierce?  I have thousands of them, that's why I ask.

I have not shot the 204 in a rra, but their varmint 223 barrels are superb shooters, 1" should be absolutely no problem, I would guess in the .750 range.  I have 2 custom 204 ar15s and they both shoot about .5".  I use br4 primers, they are the thick cup style like magnum.

I read somewhere they guarantee 0.75" but I'm hoping they are capable of better.  I also haven't found that guarantee on their website.

Post in the RRA Industry forum and ask Steve (RRAMODERATOR) about the MOA guarantee.  I have a LAR-8, totally different rifle I know, 16" bbl and it'll hold under MOA @ 100yds if I do my part.

Well I got it.  It may be a little while before Iget to shoot it, but I'll eventually have an AAR for my RRA.

The BR4 are fairly hard cup, fairly hot primers.  They'll do just fine in the .204.  I wouldn't worry about piercing them unless something is wrong with your firing pin.

The .204 round is inherantly accurate, but expecting 3/8 to 1/2 consistantly is a bit of a stretch.  I assembled an AR in .204 using a DPMS barrel and it will consistantly shoot under 1 MOA but can do better when all the planets line up.  Took 23 tries to find the right load combination for this rifle.  I have not used a RRA barrel so can't really comment on how it would stack up against this one.  DPMS is certainly minute of squirrel.

I have never used the BR primers but do use CCI Std S.R. and the CCI Arsenal Primers.  Never had a pierced primer.
