I swapped the Bushnell T-dot for a new 2x7 Vortex Viper.  Does anyone think the cheap rings will hold up to the 308's recoil.  Should I just spend an xtra $50 for a set of xtra high tactical(abolute co-witness) mounts?

I would get the Burris Extra High Extreme tactical rings. I just put them on a 6.8 Spc rifle and they are rock solid!

I got them at Big Supply for about $35.

A 1-piece mount would be ideal in comparision to individual rings. Burris makes one, Rock River does too. If you want QD then LaRue makes the very best.

Thanks for the replies, I may just get a pair of Burris XTR's since I don't need to move the scope forward.  The high rings should be ok.

Warne rings on risers or a 1 piece.

Burris tacticals are bad-ass. Standard rings will move because the picatinny rail requires a thicker bar to take up slack. Tightening the shit out of it wont hold up to the recoil

Thanks for the replies, went to Cabelas yesterday and the Burris were on sale, plus I had a 10% card...$45 total.  The rings are super solid, look good, and perfect eye relief throughout the stock settings.  Now I just need a decent set of handguards.   I'm not sure if the Magpul will be ok w/o the front sight.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v692/poohbear385/111_5530-1.jpg
