So I recieved my Mega Upper in the mail today. I then lubed up my charging handle and BCG and inserted it into the upper. Then locked it up on my lower reciever.

My problem is......

It is super hard to pull back the charging handle and BCG.  Once i actually get it pulled back and release it, it is super hard to pull back again. i then inserted one 308 round into the Pmag and pulled the charging handle back and it caught just fine but once the BCG was seated with the round, it was at the point where it was by far the hardest to pull the charging handle back to eject the round.

I thought that MEGA was compatible with DPMS

Parts for reference:

DPMS SASS Barrel

DPMS BCG

BCM 762 CH

Thanks

I have the mega charge handle and a similar behavior.  I have not fired it yet, but I'm expecting it to smooth out with break-in.

I think the finish and the machine marks from the boring bar are the cause

This is also what I am hoping for. Im hoping some heat and friction will loosen things up a bit.

I use DPMS BCG and BCM CH with BHW barrel.  Mine was stiff also.  The more I shot it the better it got.

Hi Guys   I built up a mega using dpms chrome bcg and a dpms sass barrel.....yes it was stiff. When i first shot it the bcg would sometimes lockup in battery...crazy huh?
headspace was perfect. when it locked up i went and got range officer and he proceeded to beat the crap out of the charging handle witha big rubber mallet...which then bent my charging handle  WTF?  I ordered a new bcm gunfighter charge handle and went back to the range. Ive got bout 200 rds down the pipe and everything is perfect....it will loosen up with rounds fired i believe.....just keep  the range officer away from your piece!  Lol

No one has tried to figure out where/why the binding is occuring?  With prussian blue or magic marker, with and without the buffer tube, with and without the charging handle (use a string tied to the gas key), etc?

The dpms bcg's and barrels seem to be a little snug fit with a few other brands of uppers too not just the mega's.
I'm glad I went with armalite bcg's and barrels to match as both of my builds run smooth from the start.

MA-TEN owner here, but with an AR10 BCG and Noveske barrel (Armalite extension).  Mocked up, everything cycled smoothly.

Will report back when everything is together and ready to take to the range.

I run

Armalite bcg,  noveske barrel and bcm medium ch, and its like butter,

Not sure what's going on with yours? Is it lubed up good?

I dont necessarily view this as a bad thing yet.  Mine is lubed well - I think I might just clean the grease off and shoot it with some rem oil to expedite the break-in.

I have a fulton (dpms) chrome bcg with an SSA-E fcg...  I'm fairly certain its the finish that has to wear a bit, and then it'll be GTG.  Kinda like a SA 1911...

I'll report back on mine, but it does not look like I'll be going to the range anytime soon..  New kid's been keeping us busy.  Might be sometime next month.

Armalite BCG, Shaw barrel with Armalite extension, Mega CH, Magpul UBR w/ Slash buffer and spring, Pmags.  It has been like clockwork from the beginning and very smooth.  I dunno, maybe the DPMS stuff is just slightly out of spec for the MATEN?

Those that have calipers, could you take measurements of the wide and slim sections of the Armalite and of the inside diameter of the MA10 receiver?

My DPMS carrier measures 1.143 on the fat portion (from one of the lower rauils to the area between the opposite lower rail and the gas key) and .929 on the tail end of the carrier.
