I have my barrel off my LAR 8 varmint in my hand, just had a local shop cut it down to 20"
from 26". Now, I am ready to send it to adco for some reprofiling and threading. It currently
is 1.050 behind the gas block, .936 at the gas block, & .920 ahead of the gas block. I am thinking
.875 behind the gas block and .750 gas block forward, is this too light to maintain decent accuracy in
mild ( not rapid mag dumping, but not shoot and wait 2 minutes between either)shooting sessions? I
am hoping someone who has been down this road can help me not screw up my rifle.

Not sure if it's too light but I'll bet if you check out profiles of other barrels in said caliber you'll see what is typically used. I've heard turning barrels down can effect accuracy too if enough is taken down after it's rifled. Not sure how much it would take to do that.

How about .920 behind and .875 gas blaock forward?
Do any of the front line barrels run this profile?

What barrel/rifle do you have in this profile?
How does it shoot?

Almost all barrels are turned after they are rifled.

Id go with a mid heavy contour, .825 UHG and .750 in front.
That should withstand heavy firing, accuracy, and it will lose quit a bif of weight from what youve got now.
