Which mags, do you have the best luck with in your DPMS .308?
Thanks |
|
When I bought the rifle, it came with a few DPMS mags which all worked. At that time, no Pmags, and the CProducts 308 mags were new and having issues, so I bought 3 more DPMS, these were the "bad batch" so I exchanged them with DPMS. Last purchase was Pmags, which run fine. Likely go with Pmags in the future, but more because they take 20 rounds and DPMS is only 19.
ETA: Also, the Pmags are cheaper. Lee |
| I seen a guy selling some sr-25 mags, he had nice pics of them up. I could not see any major noticeable difference between them and the current dpms mag. maybe I missed something but they sure as hell looked the same. but yeah, the pmag would be the way to go,from what you read here. wheres a good deal on them,is what I would like to know. |

Just an FYI, external cosmetic similarities are almost never relative to functionality and reliability. Some KIA cars are made to look like Mercedes Benz; looks don't equal functionality, reliability and overall quality. Just the fact that DPMS mags only hold 19 rounds is a warning sign to me. I do have two C-Products 10rd mags for hunting here in KY. Both have been great and are excellent mags for shooting from a bench when sighting in or doing load development. They sit more flush when inserted but allow enough of the mag body to sit out of the mag well to show that a mag is inserted. I've had ZERO feed issues, the bolt locks back after the last shot and the mags drop free. I'm glad I've got those 2 10rd mags from C-Products. If there prices were priced more competitively to PMAGS, I'd buy more C-Products .308 mags to have more mag variety. |

I have 7 DPMS mag all seem to run good, one c-products mag which is starting to have some issues, I just need to work on it a little since its been banged up pretty good over time.
I recently purchased 6 P-Mags and don't believe I will buy anything else since they are cheap and very reliable |

I personally have heard the best things about p mags, and in time I will be using both and will see if the dpms mag fails me. I dont think the new ones will at all. |

I ran my gun with DPMS mags exclusively for approximately the first 400-500 rounds, and the only issue I had was that one of the mags was a hair tight in the magwell at first and would not drop free when I hit the mag release. Now that it's had a chance to wear in, it drops free just fine.
I've had no issues with my C Products mags. Haven't tried the Pmags, but I'm a dinosaur and prefer metal mags. |

I don't follow. Where did you purchase the C Products .308 magazines from and how much did you pay for them? C Products .308 magazines are far less expensive than the Magpul .308 magazines through most distributors. For example, Midway USA has the Magpul mags for $18.95 where as the C Products mags are $13.99. Chad |

AIM surplus has your mags $1 cheaper but PMAGS have free shipping so the PMAGS are cheaper to order since shipping is free from AIM. I haven't used the CProducts 308 mags (yet) but they are $15.95 on their website. I will be buying some soon as I have a few hundred CProducts 5.56 mags and love them. I am sure their .308 offering will be just as good. I have used the 2 DPMS mags that came with my rifle with zero issue and I got a screaming deal on some PMags, so I have those as well and have had no issue. |
| I've heard of people having issues ordering from them but I've got a lot of stuff from them with no problem (about 15 orders total and once there was an item out of stock and they overnighted it to me at a lodge, no charge so I would have it on my hunting trip. Pretty good if you ask me) They don't always email me when something has shipped but you can always pull up their webpage and track your order so I guess I don't get the problem. Regardless $9.95 is a great price for 20 round 308 mags that run reliably. |
