My LAR came with (4) metric magazines that work well.  I was told that the LAR will work wth Metric and Inch magazines.  At the range Saturday I found that the Inch magazines would not feed the round into the chamber without jamming.  The Metrics work great.  Any suggestions?

Stick with the metrics...a bunch of different folks made those too and not all are created equal. The IMIs seem to work the best in mine.

So when is RRA going to make their own (reliable) polymer mags for the LAR-8? Supposedly it was some time in 2010, but we are already a calendar year later.

I gather you don't have FTF problems?  Wonder why mine does with the inch magazines.

I looked at RRA's site and don't find any LAR magazines for sale.

Metric IMI FAL: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/6-IMI-Metric-FAL-20-rd-Mags.aspx?a=570066&kwtid=214640

Hit up Bing or Google with "Metric FAL mags" as the search terms and you'll see a few other vendors too.  Not as cheap as they once were.

It depends on the condition of the magazines.  If the feed lips are bent  even just a little bit or the springs are weak or there is crud in the mags they might not work.  Five of the eight inch pattern mags I have are reliable with all the ammo I have tried.  Of course they were used and had to be cleaned and some of the feed lips had to be straightened.

Guess I won't write off the inch magazines yet.  I'll work on them.

speaking of jams, do they make anti-tilt followers for the Metric or Inch FAL mags? My second 2 last bullet jams in an otherwise issue-free string of 20 shots. On examination, the last bullet is halfway cock-eyed downward toward the rear of the mag. This is using the standard  RRA (steel) mag that came with my LAR8 (2009).

thx

I just recieved several more inch and metric magazines.  I bought the inch mags from Midway and the metric mags from Sportman's Guide.  Two of the 6 inch magazines don't feed properly and it's because of bent feed lips, the other 4 seem to work well.  These inch mags from Midway are nasty, but they cleanup nicely.  The IMI mags from Sportman's Guide are new and feed pefectly.  Seems the LAR can use both mags if they're in good shape.

The IMI mags from Sportsmans Guide are not new, they are refurbished not to mention over priced.

DSA has been trying without luck. Why not? It is very expensive to gear up for production and there is / will, be several different polymer mags available not to mention the constant threat of a federal ban, this makes it a risky at best proposition.

You are correct.  They're nicely painted on the outside but rusty on the inside.  I'll be cleaning them up just like the nasty ones from Midway.

ordered the RRA polymer over a month ago and hasn't shipped yet.. I love RRA products but hate that you can order shit from their website and they won't tell you if it's going to ship in a week or in a year, and they don't care.

I ordered 4 of the RRA Polymer mags a week ago.  Sent them an email today and they responded that it'll be a couple of weeks before they'll ship.
