I made it to the range, finally, and shot a couple 10 shot groups with the new Grendel build:

The temp was 32ish with gusty tail winds shooting from 100 yards.  I wasn't able to go further as there was a competition ongoing at the range.

This 10 shot group measured about 1.25 inches.  The other two 10 shot groups were about 1.5 inches.  I was a bit disappointed with my shooting and feel I can easily get this under the MOA mark.  I'm going back in the morning and try the 120 grain Nosler Partitions.  Hopefully the competition is over and I can put the target further out.

Not bad at all for the shitty conditions.  My fingers get numb in the cold weather in my old age.  I guess I well wait a few months to get my new build out.

You won't realize its true potential until you work up a custom reload for your rifle.  Some guys luck out and get good results with factory ammo, but reloading for it will allow you to fine-tune it for a bullet and powder that it likes best.

I think that not bad with gusty winds. I see a lot of  tuching holes, so when there is low wind  you will get sub moas. It's a great looking gun.

Stpolaris, what barrel did you use for your build? I am starting a 6.5 grendel build and trying to decide which barrel and bolt combo to use. Right now I am leaning towards either the AA 16" or 18" button rifle barrel.

It's a 20" Sabre defence barrel and bolt.

Nice! If you don't mind me pestering you, how much does your rifle weight?

Dang, I wish I could make it out.  Not fond of shooting in cold weather...except for hunting.  I'm sure those groups will tighten up by spring or summer.  Have you tried AA's 123 Lapua yet?  They're a bit pricey but supposedly the cat's meow for the Grendel.  You can reload them cheaper.

BTW, nice rifle.

about 10 lbs. with 15 in the mag.  She doesn't feel heavy and the balance is comfortable.

Nice group for cold windy day stpolaris.

Your rifle's soul brother finally breaths and it's first group at 100 yards was 3 shots the size of a quarter. And that was from across the hood of my truck sorta swaying a lil cuz I had only a thirty round mag and a pile of coats to "rest" the rifle on LOL.  Still haven't had more than a box of shells through her yet, though... same problem... cold n windy!

I'm pretty pleased with the Sabre Defense barrel n bolt.
