I just wanted to throw this out there, I know my DPMS LR-308 uses standard AR-15 handguards, has anyone tried to use any after market two piece railed handguards with any success, I was looking at the YHM 2 piece customizable handguard and a few others, I just wanted to get some feed back before I try this out before wasting money on something that does not work.
I have 2 sets of handguards, one M16 and one AR15 and both sets fit on my LR-308, and of course YHM won't make anything for the 308 platform to help their sales, and fulton armory won't return emails, I think the best thing to do is order a set of the 2 piece railed handguards and go from there, if anything else, I can always sell them to get my money back.
Daniel Defense makes a dandy lite rail for the LR-308. I have one on my .500 Phantom and really like it. On the other three, two have CF tubes and one a standard DPMS tube. They are all perfect for the rifles they are on but if you want a railed handguard, take a close look at the DD, I think you will be quite happy with it.
Well I just tried out the NcStar railed hand guards and they fit like a glove, after installing them and using the 3 screws for each side, the hand guard fits better than the hand guards that came with the weapon, not much movement whatsoever, so I think I will keep these.
Along the same lines; if AR15 handguards will fit .308 will the delta ring, snap ring and weld spring work from an AR15? I'm thinking of doing my J.D. Machine build with O.D. Moe handguards and need the barrel nut, delta ring, etc. My idea is to use a standard pinned AR15 front sight A-frame.
