I have a LR 308 with the older upper with no dust cover or forward assist and am going to be changing it out to an A3.If i change to an A3 will i also need to change the gas block to a shorter one to get the flip front sights to work? The gas block now is really high to match the taller upper.

I think you do. I have a LR-308T with the A3 upper that has fwd assist and dust cover. My gas block is the low one. It is below the handguard height. I have a spare that has the single rail for buis if you need one It's the Koelbl .750 diameter http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=5625&cat=1768 that comes stock on their rifles. I replaced it with one that has four rails. If you need it PM me for info and a pic. Just check that yours is the .750. It should be unless it's a Bull barrel then it should be .936. You might try the DPMS forums to verify. Those guys seem pretty helpful on there and there is a DPMS rep on there alot to answer ?s. Hope this helps.
