Just sold my POF .308 16" carbine and seriously considering a JP .308 18" rifle. Has anyone shot one of these? I hear JP is pretty involved in 3-gun matches and was wondering if the LRP-07 would out-shoot my 3/4MOA POF.
I really like these features on their rifles: Low-profile gas-block 2" diameter VTAC handguard Side-operating charging system Improved recoil impulse owing to their proprietary low-mass operating system Supermatch barrels that are air-gauged and cryogenically treated to ensure cold bore shot predictability, resistance to thermal drift on POA and exceptional life expectancy Any feedback would be most appreciated. Thanks. - BORG |

Thanks. - BORG If you're looking for a game gun then I think the LRP-07 will suit you fine, but if you want afield rifle, I'd look elsewhere. I had a couple of their V-TAC .308 handguards and the six, tiny allen head screws which hold the handguard on do not install confidence, especially the bottom two that secure with only a few threads. Accuracy is on par with other .308s, but how that accuracy will hold up under field use is TBD. What do you plan on using it for? |

I have one with an 18" barrel in 308 and couldn't be happier. It functions flawlessly with the magpul mags.
You should try and find someone nearby and try to shoot one or go to a match that JP sponsors and at least handle one, you won't be disappointed! If for some reason you don't like it, you would probably be able to turn around and sell it immediately for close to the price you paid for it, but I don't see that happening. There are other good 308 options in the market now, but if you've never shot the LRP-07, you REALLY need to try one. The balance, accuracy, and recoil signature on this rifle are amazing. I also have a CTR-02 with the VTAC handguard and I bang that rifle around and have never had any problems. |
