Was wondering how long it takes to get your order once you place it. Was thinking of ordering a .308 and maybe even a 7.62x39 for shits and giggles from them but if its going to take like 16 weeks or some absurd amount of time like i've heard people say in the past then i'll pass.
Anyone order from them recently? Also wondering if they offer an active duty military discount, emailed them that question got no response yet. |
| I had orders on file for a 7.62x39 upper (which DPMS doesn't offer any more) and a LR308C upper. Right at 18 months I received the 7.62x39 upper, Dec 09. I canceled the 308 upper about 2 weeks ago. The dealer said DPMS was pretty close to finishing it, 18 months here also. Both of those orders were placed before the current administration was elected. Your wait time now, I would bet, will be longer. |

Never ordered a anything right from manufacturer like that before, is that typical? Usually I would just buy in store or gun show so i never had experience with sites like that. I have a good working relationship with my local dealer who doesn't routinely stock DPMS rifles. He would order whatever I wanted. DPMS won't let you buy any uppers or rifles directly, unless you have an FFL. |

Prepare to be disappointed unless you buy just a plain jane gun. I have had a 308B upper with options on order since January 6, 2009. Don't have it yet, no idea when I will get it either. |

Seriously, never EVER order from places like RRA/DPMS/Bushmaster directly. Go to one of their authorized distributors... |

Most of them just have the plain run of the mill models and that is not what I am looking for. |

Of those options, the only one I am truly willing to give up is the teflon coating and maybe the 4 rail. I am looking at a SWS hand guard anyway. |

Why do you want the fluted barrel? (for the sake of asking) Honestly. I like the looks of the fluted barrel. Plus the added benefit of increased surface area for cooling purposes. I figure the weight saving would be minimal. I found the entire rifle in stock, but not just the upper...(minus the 4 railed HG, that is) |

I've ordered from them before on the web and never had such an issue (not recently). Hope this isn't a new policy... |

Check out R&R arms. They get special ordered DPMS 308 rifles in a lot and have several stock models with a few upgrades. I used to have a stock 308B and wish I had never sold it. I may order a replacement with an A3 upper some time. That is who has my upper on order (for 13 months now). I finally bought a 24" rifle from them but told them to keep my upper on order. |
