My youngest son wants to deer hunt with my 6.8, just looking for a good starting point on a hunting round for the 6.8.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

The load My 2 kids (15 yo daughter 17 yo son) are using on deer is 110gr sierra pro hunter, rem 6 1/2 primer, 29.0 gr Ramshot Exterminator (as always work up to that) loaded to 2.287c.o.a.l.

In my rifle, more accurate and cheaper than any other bullet tested.  And performance on Mule deer was

Are you happy with the performance of the 110 Gr Sierra?  Is it holding together ok?

The 110 grain Accubond is a little more expensive than the Sierra but cheaper than Barnes Triple Shock.  It is superbly accurate and has been used on mule deer and even Elk.
I have it loaded with 29.2-29.5 grains of H322 and a CCI #41 primer with OAL around 2.29 and it shoots under MOA if you do your part.  I have a CMMG 1/10 SPCII chamber rifle.  Maybe I will upgrade to 1/11 next year.

Lots of people like the Barnes, but they will usually shoot to a way different point of impact and some barrels like them some don't.

The Sierra is an accurate bullet also and cheaper but you need to make sure the feed ramp is very smooth as not to mess up the lead tip on this round,
the Accubond does not have any issues with this and will retain energy farther than the Sierra.
