I apologize if this has been asked before (tried search, no luck), but in an AR-platform, can I...

1) Use a standard .308 bolt/carrier
2) Use standard mags

... with a .338 Federal barrel? In other words, would a .338 Federal conversion only require a barrel change?

Thanks for the confirmation. Any of you .338 Fed guys out there care to comment on how they run? I'm interested, but leary about expanding to another caliber. Especially a rather new one.

I've got a complete dpms 338 fed upper on gunbroker right now- I was impressed with accuracy and performance, took a black bear and a nice buck with it a year ago and now its time to move on. so its looking for a new home
