Optics suggestion:
TA33-8 ACOG In a LaRue mount I like the Amber Chevron myself.... Green horseshoe would be better for CQB. |

That's a good looking rifle. Specs?Looks freaking awesome! Yes, specs please! Upper and lower manufacturer? Barrel manufacturer? Rail manufacturer? I am gonna go out on a limb here, and guess the upper and lower are DPMS, probably barrel too, Troy rail, Magpul UBR, PWS FSC30. |

Is it .750" or heavy behind the gas block? Any idea on the overall weight? If you have the tools its pretty easy to tap the hole the rear take down detent and spring go in, then you can put a little set screw in there and not have to wait on anyone for a spacer or whatever. Just like so, but from the bottom: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=421849 |

Actually pretty close, given my sub par photography skills,
its a .750", so its fairly light for a 308, i can weigh it when i get home i saw a similiar post on the grip, thanks for the tip, The miad wedge also fills in the gap behind the b2 backstrap and the lower reciever though, its supposed to show up today, i like the acog idea http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=179 it appears larue doesnt have the amber reticle, pros / cons of red vs amber? or just personal preference? |

These days the TA33 and others are available in 3 colors: red, amber and green. The green is new, and the ad says "human eye is most sensitive to green". I went to a gunshop which had both, and they let me take the demo ACOGs out side and look across the street. I did this with red and amber. I really like the amber. I would like to check out the green, but never seen one.
I went to a gun show and they had TA31, TA11 and TA33, and I looked at all of them. I liked the amber TA33 best. Note, I have a 5.56 reticle on mine, it was originally for an AR-15; my 308 had a big 2.5-10x50 IOR scope. When I put the 308 on the diet, dumped the PRS, 24" barrel and so on, I wanted a lighter sight. Around the same time, my AR15 went from a 16" to a 10.5" so the 308 got the ACOG, and EOtech on the AR. Incidentally, the 5.56 reticle matches 308 Hornady110grain Tap perfectly to 600. I handload a lot of 110grain these days. The BDC is always a trade off, matching your ammo to one BDC is never perfect, lots of math... Further ACOG reading |
