I have a 24 inch DPMS LR-308. How many of the DPMS factory 19 round mags would be a reasonable amount for this rifle when used in the precision marksman role? I'm not talking about repelling hordes of zombies, but wanted to find out what people think would be a reasonable number of mags when using the rifle in this kind of support role.
The Soviet bloc countries usually issue a 10 round mag with the rifle, and a bag containing 4 more 10 round mags for their unit precision marksmen (50 rounds). Lots of people are probably thinking "Buy as many magazines as you can afford" , but I'm supplying magazines for alot of rifles, and this is only one of them...So I'm trying to prioritize magazine purchases for Glock, Para-Ordnance, 1911A-1, 5.56x45, 6.5 Grendel, and 308...and on and on...anyhow, you get the idea. And thanks in advance. |
| Do any of your other weapons use the DPMS/SR25 magazines? A precision rifle for 300+ yards and an AP4 type for closer applications could share mags and cover "up close and personal" out to 1000 yards. I have 4 CZ pistols that all share the same magazine, as do my two DPMS rifles. All of my centerfire rifles are 7.62/.308, and my pistols are 9mm and .40 S&W, so my ammo concerns aren't confusing, either. Other than my DPMS rifles, I have an HK91 and a fixed magazine Savage, so my biggest concern is which ammo to use, so I buy only quality ammo. If you use a lot of different mags, buy as many of each as you can. |

As many magazines as you can afford! But really, what I've learned progressively is at least:
