Stripped lowers that you use for 5.56 and .223, what else can they be used for?
Does 7.62 or .308 require a different lower? |
|
The 7.62x51 needs an ar10 type lower due to the OAL of the larger case.
ar15 lower can be used in about a dozen diff cal's .17 rem, .17 tac, .204 ruger, .223 rem, 6.5 grendel , 6.8, .450 bushmaster, .458 socom I no there are more out there just cant think of them at the moment. |

Does 7.62 or .308 require a different lower? 7.62 NATO or .308 Winchester uses a different lower, larger in all dimensions to hold the longer round and bigger bolt/carrier. The same lower can also support uppers for .243, 7mm-08, .260, and .338 Federal. There's probably more but most are based off the .308 Winchester as a parent case. The AR15 lower has a seemingly endless variety of calibers .22lr, 5.45x39, 5.56 Nato, .223 Remington, 7.62x39, .300 Whisper. 223 wssm, .243 wssm, .25 wssm, 6.5mm Grendel, 6.8 Remington SPC, .450 Buhsmaster, .458 socom, and .50 beowolf. There are some pistol calibers too but I think they do use a slightly different lower to accept Glock style mags (9mm, .40S&W, 10mm, .45ACP). And this list is not complete for sure. The AR15 lower can also be used as a single shot for things like the .338 Lapua and .50BMG. |
