Well about two months ago I pulled the trigger and bought me one of the very few LR-243s that seemed to be floating around. When I first got it it was accurate, but I didn't have the optics to really show how accurate the rifle was, and the stock trigger had to much creep in it. After figuring out the things I needed to get to help improve my shooting, I went out on a quest to find some parts and optics for the rifle.
Well two months later I have finally came to what I have though is all I need for this rifle. Rifles Pictures http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u140/xeon133/Guns/DSCN0421.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u140/xeon133/Guns/DSCN0422.jpg Now for the Optics, I was looking for a brand of optics that had things that I wanted, but I didn't want to pay the high prices of most of those scopes. I came across Millett, I had never heard of them. After looking for a good Optic for awhile I went ahead and bought the Millet 4-16x56 Buck Gold Mil-dot scope. To mount that onto my rifle I wanted something that could hold it in place, I saw the Burris P.E.P.R (Proper Eye Position Ready) scope mount for AR type rifles, and I picked one of those up to. Scope Picture http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u140/xeon133/Guns/DSCN0423.jpg For the price I think that the Millett scope was a good scope. It holds center and is very bright and clear. One thing I have noticed is that if light reflects into the scope the right way and you are on 16 power the scope kind of gets a blue haze over it, but it is not that bad. The mil-dots are set up to be used with the 16 power of the scope, which I like because I will only use the mil-dots at the longer ranges and so I will be using the higher power. Now after getting the scope and realizing how much better I was shooting, the creep of the stock trigger really started to bother me. It would take me a long time to pull the trigger back to the spot that it needed to be to get it to break. I also noticed that because of that I would sometimes pull off target and I couldn't keep my shots very consistent. I found the Timney 3lb Solid trigger, I had been hearing some good things about Timney and I really liked the fact that it was a drop in and use the two stock pins to replace the whole trigger group. The installation of the Timney trigger was in a matter of 10 - 15 mins. There is some creep in the trigger, but it is really hard to feel it. The break is crisp, and the 3lb pull is very nice. Trigger Installed Picture http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u140/xeon133/Guns/DSCN0449.jpg Sorry for the bad picture, its a small area to be taking a picture in. The installation was very easy to do with minimal tools. With this trigger I also ordered a Hogue Over mold pistol grip, Because I had picked up a RRA AR-15 with a similar pistol grip and I really liked it. Once I get some more time to go out and shoot I will get some pictures of some of the groups I am getting with it. ~Matman2010 |
