I have a couple of DPMS Ap4 308's and I want to buy some spoons and stripper clips. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I was told that my M-14 spoons would work but they are a no-go....

Thanks,

If you modify them to be a little wider they will work, some better than others. I'm still not confident in them though. I've been able to get about half of mine to work well enough to actually use them. I asked this question a while back. I was wondering if there was a guide that would fit correctly. DPMS said they weren't aware of anything. You and I need to go to some upcoming gun shows and to surplus stores and just take a mag in and see if we can find anything that fits correctly. If not, maybe we can get someone to make some up. I have a guy here that can so it. But I have to make it worth his while. I'm sure there's a market out there. I still have 5 bandoleers from my M1a, and would like to use them, as they are lighter and cheaper than the mags. If you find something that works, let me know, and I will do the same. Good luck.

the grooves which the spoon fits into do not extent to the top of the magazine.   As such, sliding on a spoon does not work.   (compare it to a GI ar-15 magazine and spoon)  I bought some 5 round stripper clips, and it came with a spoon, but I could not make it work easily.  They are in a drawer some place now.    I guess you could dremel out the spoon where it spans the top of the mag, and then try to clip it on, rather than slid it down.   Not worth the trouble to me.   Buy more mags, they make a handy ammo storage device.

I haven't tried that. I will as soon as I can. I sold my FAL and everything else with it for asn M1a, then traded it for the DPMS 308, plus a bunch of stuff to make up the price difference. I still have the bandoleers with clips and guides for the M1a, but can only get a few of the guides to work with a little modification, and under stress they probably wouldn't be what I want. Have you tried them. The Fal ones.

Haven't tried them, I don't have an AR in the .308 platform. I know about those loaders from L1A1's, just offering it up as a possible alternative. The mags look about the same size. They are cheap enough to try out. If anyone does try these, please let us know if they fit.

I'll be getting a few things at the first of the month, so I might just put those on my list.

Hmmm, I guess I will have to keep looking. I had hoped there would be an easy answer.....

All my ammo comes in boxes or loose. By the time I put them on strippers, then use the strippers to load the mags. I could just as easily loaded my mags. If you really want to load from strippers, the NcStar loader  works with most 308 mags. I bought one from Amazon and it worked well, until I ran out of ammo on strippers.
Here is a link, but they are sold all over the web:

Here is the utube video on it:

+1
I knew just by looking at the mag it wouldn't work. I tried an M14 stripper clip guide anyway.
My question is why DPMS wouldn't take this into account.
