I just did the break in on my new DPMS  AP4 LR-308.  Factory new weapon and came with two 19rd mags.  I fired the one round, cleaned the as instructed and then did this 25 times.  I then loaded 10 rounds as instructed and on the 7th round the weaponed jamed.  I make sure on the next ten to seat the mag and again on the 7th round it jamed.  I changed ammo, again on the 7th round it jamed.  I then changed mags and again on the 7th round it jammed.... This happened every time for fourteen times.  I used both of the two new mags, I used three kinds of NATO ammo and every time it jammed on the 7th round, maybe the 8th round on one but I am not sure as I was beyond fustrated by that time....  The 7th round would not feed and only the tip of round would make it to the feed ramp.  I will of course call DPMS tomorrow but thought you guys may be able to give me a heads up on this issue and maybe what I can expect DPMS to tell me..............

"Jam" is a word that can mean many things. Please describe the jam in detail.

Was the bolt and bolt carrier drippy wet with lube? New AR-style rifles need lots of lube until all the moving parts wear in. If you put a dab of gun grease on the backs of the bolt lugs, that's even better than oil.

Another recommendation is to trash the DPMS recoil spring and install an Armalite spring. The Armalite spring is stiffer and makes the B/BC strip rounds from the mags with ease.

I did describe it.  As I stated in the thread the tip of the seventh round would only make it to to the feed ramp.......I guess I should have added the bolt then would jam on the tip of the seventh round and thus not feed the round into the chamber.

Another thing is to check the mag feed lips for burrs from the stamping process. Run your finger along the inside edge of the feed lips and remove any sharpness with a jeweler's file.

I am certain the issue is the mags.  Just because they are factory new means very little since QC has suffered these past months with all of the manufacturers trying to catch up.  Plus, I doubt DPMS even manufactures these and most likely have someone else making them.  I am going to pull the floor plate and check both mags and also check what you suggested.  I am mostly curious what DPMS is going to do.  I have never had to deal with them as the only DPMS I have purchased were for other people.  I will not accpet a weapon having this issue new out of the box but I loved shooting this thing and hope they will simply correct the issue by sending me two new mags.  The only hesitation I had in getting this was the fact it will not accept M-14 mags which I plenty of........ Have you, or any of you had to deal with DPMS since they were purchased by Remington.  If so, will they correct this issue to my satisfaction?

IMy departmental weapon was a Colt LE so I do know the AR platform but was reluctent to do much to this as I did not want DPMS to void my warrenty.  However, believe I found the issue without having to strip anything down past normal cleaning.  I believe the mag release is protruding to far into the mag and the follower is hanging up on it.  this is causing that round to missfeed each time but once the follower clears the mag release all is well.  This explains why it happened on the 7 round with ten rounds loaded each time.  I will have to contact DMPS to resolve this issue.   Does anyone know if this has been issue with this model......

It sounds like the magazines are having problems. Please call us at 1-800-578-3767 so we may repair or replace your mags under warranty.

+1.  I had the same problem.  I returned the faulty mag and DPMS made it right!  I don't have any problems now.

I contacted them today and they stated the same as you guys, the mags are bad.  I now wait, as I have to send them in and then a couple weeks for them to send me two more to try.  Having this weapon will no mags to shoot the damn thing is like dating the prom queen and having to keep it in your pants........thanks for the input and I hope the new mags work, or it is back to M1A's only in this house.......

44Mag.com has c Products mags, at a reasonable price. So you really do not have to be without mags for long. They ( 44mag  ) have good working magazines, and if you do have a problem they will replace them ASAP. Good people to work with. Oh and by the way, check the gas rings if all those those little gaps are lined up that also could cause a problem. If they are stagger them.
Good Luck.
