Hello, I am new here and I currently own a Bushmaster AR-15. I like the AR platform and I am looking for a AR-10, and I need some help on a decision on weather to buy or build.
I am looking for a AR-10 in .243 win. I have came across the DPMS LR-243. A local gun shop has one for around $2000, but I'm not wanting to spend that much on just the rifle. Would building it be better? or will it come to around the same price? They say it is rare in these times and that is why it is that price. I am afraid that the upper would be hard to find, so this is what is leading me to not want to build it. What are your guy's opinion on this? Should I wait it out and just buy the rifle (Do you think prices will go down soon?), or should I build one? I love the .243 Win round. It is good for what I do, I also plan on getting a .308 upper for it once I get or build the .243. Also, Are there any other brands that you would recommend? I've been thinking DPMS just because they seem to sell a lot more parts, and they seem to be the only one I can find info about the .243 on a AR-10 Platform. I know that some of the uppers/lowers can be mixed, and some can not. Thank you, Mattman2010 |
| They will take $1750 for it. But then after taxes it will take me right back to the same price. Do you know if DPMS is really going to take 6 - 12 months to finish guns? Im wondering if it takes that long if things wont settle down and the price of that one at the store will drop down to a reasonable price. |

You are getting ripped off. Check gunbroker you will find them for 1000-1200 This^, if you can't find the LR.243, you can find a LR308 for about $1000.00 to $1100.00, buy it, order the 243 upper, might take a few months to get but you have the .308 for now a will have a lower and both uppers for the price of the LR243. (or just buy a bunch of 110grain .308 TAP) |

The .308 upper is not really want I want right now. It will be something I get after I get the .243 as a complete gun.
Now on gun broker, I found this Click Here. I just don't know if that person is a good place to buy from. Everything he has seems really cheap, and nothing of his has bids on it. Has anyone dealt with him? Its The Kentucky Gun Co. and all of the reviews seem to sound good, just the fact that everything is so low, and no bids on anything kinda seems strange. |
