Hey all,
I am curious if anyone out there has a DPMS LR-308L with the 18" stainless barrel?? IF so, how does is shoot, is the break/comp on the end removable and overall, do you like the gun?? I appreciate any info!! Thanks!!! |

I have one that I bought last October. I'm very happy with it. I have had absolutely zero problems with is. The first 20 rounds I put through it were Tubbs Final Finish bullets, cleaned every 5 rounds. Then I shot some Black Hills that I had, cleaning every 5 rounds up to 100 rounds. I know a lot of folks don't believe it's necessary, but you only get one chance to break in a barrel and it can not hurt. I've shot almost entirely reloads since then. 168gr AMax and 175gr SMK bullets over either Varget, RL15 or 4064 without any problems. The JP trigger that it came with is fine, fairly crisp. It is somewhat adjustable. The muzzle brake is quite effective. It does produce a lot of side blast and the noise is tremendous. I've never tried to remove the brake, but it's threaded on like any other one, so you should be able to replace it if you want to. I was lucky enough to buy 6 C-Products 19 rounder and 3 DPMS 4 rounder magazines last October before they became so scarce. The ones I've used work perfectly. I haven't opened all of the magazines yet. I used it on a muley this past season at extended range. I posted a picture of it here somewhere. All in all, I'm very happy with mine. If you can find one, buy it. Or better yet, buy two! Bob

In response to you message, I took a look again at the muzzle brake to see if it is screwed on. It sure looks like it is. There is a line visible that you may be able to see in the picture of my (dirty!) barrel. I can't imagine DPMS machining it as a one piece unit. Also on their website it reads the following - Barrel:
