I know this runs the risk of sounding stupid. I have a bolt I got on the EE sold as a 6.8 SPC bolt, but am still not sure if it is for a 6.8 SPC or the 762x39 cartridge. I am unfamiliar with either chamberings.  When I placed a 68 cartridge in the bolt face, it has enough room on either side of the rim to see the bolt face. I went down to my local gun store and placed a 762 round in the bolt face, and it fit very snugly.

Should a 6.8 SPC bolt NOT fit the larger 762 cartridge? Can anyone tell me what there 68 bolt face measures in diameter, or take a pic of it next to a 5.56 bolt?

I am certain a 68 round could be chambered and fired with this bolt, but if it is indeed meant for a 762, then that would not be good.

Easy way to test is to try to chamber a 7.62x39 in the rifle.  The 7.62x39 will NOT fit in the 6.8's chamber, so if it chambers it's not a 6.8.

If the 6.8 round moves around, its probably not a 6.8 bolt. I just had this issue with a bolt that was sold to me as 6.8, but was actually 7.62x39.

Measure the diameter of the bolt face - 6.8 should be .42"/10.8mm while 7.62x39 should be .44"/11.2mm

DO NOT fire a 6.8 round through a bolt intended for 7.62x39.  Best case you get crappy accuracy, worst case you damage your weapon and/or yourself.
