Can any upper Receiver be used for a 6.8 build ? (5.56 or .223). Will a 6.8 Barrel work with a .223 upper?

It should, im also starting a 6.8 build and I was told the only thing different from the 6.8 and the 5.56 is the barrel, bolt, and mags everything else is pretty much the same and can be used

True every part is the same except barrel. bolt and mags.

Now if you can find the parts you want is the other question. I was trying to build my 6.8 upper for the past year and then I found a complete new RRA upper in 6.8 with chrome lined barrel. It was as cheap as buying the parts at 500 bucks.

A3 upper, 16inch barrel chrome lined with bcg. New from a dealer I trade with. He had 12 and sold all of them including mine in 10 minutes flat at the last austin gunshow.

Good luck.

not really any such thing as a '223' upper or a '6.8' upper, it's an AR upper and the 6.8 barrel works just the same as any other.  barrel and bolt are ALL that are needed other than proper 6.8 mags...  the bolt carrier is the same, the upper and lower are the same, everything else is the same.

The upper houses the bolt carrier assembly. The bolt carrier assembly is the same across the board––the only variations are in the barrel and bolt. Their dimensions do not affect the upper receiver whatsoever.
