1. Grip upper receiver firmly in your right hand (Left if your a southpaw)
2. Grip tube firmly in your left hand (Right if your a southpaw) 3. Rotate your right hand clockwise while rotating left hand counter clockwise (Vise versa if your southpaw) For the bolt catch screw (I'm pretty sure it is a roll pin) Try Brownells. You may also check locally at a AR build friendly gun shop. You may be able to pick up the pin/screw for about fifty cents. Otherwise its fifty cents with $5-$15 shipping. |

Sucks about the screw, maybe contact DPMS and tell them, they might ship another one out? Midway is out of stock, but looks like they have some coming in on the 20th. CLICK ME for link

I would also contact DPMS, they should know about the problem, they may have a bad batch of screws. They should also replace it.
If you want a fast replacement, I have been getting the Bolt Catch Screw from Fulton Armory: http://www.fulton-armory.com/TitanParts.htm The "Titan" parts are interchangeable with DPMS. They seem to keep them in stock. Problem with the DPMS bolt catch screw design, unlike the standard .223 AR design, it is only open on 1 end.
As such you can't drive in a pin and really get it to hold well. I am sure that is why they went with a threaded screw design. I am obviously not a big fan of this design because it requires a very non-standard part. I checked with 3 different commercial fastener companies and none of them stocked a similar replacement screw. As such you probably want to buy a few extra of these in the event you loose 1 or it brakes. Best of Luck, Capt Richardson |
