Sorry to .  But I just need a quick answer about 7.62 nato v .308.

I know for an AR-15, a rifle chambered in 5.56nato will use both 5.56 and .233, and a rifle in .233 wont take 5.56.

How is it for .308 and 7.62nato?

ETA: not looking for a technical explanation, just a simple XXX will work with XXX and YYY, and YYY will only work with YYY

308 win. and 7.62 nato are almost identical, safe to shoot either.

so you can fire 7.62 our of a .308 bolt action rifle? just to be sure

Yes, should be fine.   The 7.62 spec allows a larger range of headspace, but no one manufacturers on that end of the range.   You would have to look long and hard to find 7.62 ammo which will not work in a 308.   And if you did, all you would notice is that the bolt will not close.
