I just recently bought a kit containing everything I would need to build a 7.62X39 AR except a stripped lower receiver and magazine. Do I need a 7.62 specific lower or will any stripped lower work? Thanks.

Any standard lower will work. There are alternative lowers including MGI's modular system and the out of production AR47 that both let you use AK magazines, but the easiest route is to use a standard lower.

There is much information you'll find useful in these two threads: 7.62x39mm AR-15 configurations and .338 Spectre FAQ and a 7.62x39 FAQ. Magazines are addressed in those threads.

Great info thanks. I bought my 16" C.A.R. kit from Model 1 and I was wondering if anyone else has bought a rifle or complete kit from them and what they thought.
