I have what may be a stupid question, but i will ask it anyway.
I was at the gun show today looking for a striped lower receiver so i could do a build of an AR. I have never build an AR, but I have been doing more than a little reading here in the forums. I picked up a MMS striped lower for $190. When I mentioned that I planed to use it to build a .308 he said that it would not work, because the Mag well is for 5.56. I got it anyway hoping that he was incorrect. So this is the question I guess. As I understood it. I could use a regular AR lower and mate it to a .308 upper (if I can find one at this point) and all would be well as long as I get the correct Magazines (looking at the ones that C Products makes). Is this correct or am I way off? Thanks! |

yes ar10's require matching upper and lower just like ar15's.
noveske, armalite, dpms all make inchangable upper and lower's for ar10's bushmaster used to make an ar10 {they called it BAR10}, and rock river arms bought the project from bushmaster and now RRA make theyre ar10{ they call it LAR8}. the bushmaster bar10's is interchangable with rock river arms lar8, both upper and lower receiver's. |

NO! these do not all interchange!!!! there are two formats: lets call them the Armalite format and the DPMS format: Noveske is on the Armalite format On the DPMS format is POF, Remington, I'll let someone else complete the list, I'm too tired to try to think of them all |

Untrue, Armalite, Noveske and GA Prec all use the same format, DPMS, Remington, POF and a few smaller companies have a different format. |

Is that yours? You know your bridging the upper and FF rail right? |

Is that yours? You know your bridging the upper and FF rail right? yep-it still shoots out to 1k just fine. I don't believe its a sin the bridge the gap and have yet to see any problems as many people "report". That armalite mount has a solid base and metal clamping mount. That specific scope is usually not on there, but I throw it on there when I'm testing loads . YMMV |
